Job Description:

The Senior Quality Manager provides leadership and strategic direction for developing and maintaining a corporate quality program to ensure the highest product quality. The Senior Quality Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality, regulatory compliance, and compliance within a chemical manufacturing environment. This position places a strong emphasis on quality control in manufacturing, overseeing compliance with industry standards, maintaining certifications, and driving continuous improvements in quality assurance. This position is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet FDA regulations and standards. This position regularly interacts with all levels within the organization and influences all laboratories within the organization.

The function is directly responsible for leadership, providing ingredient quality to manufacturing plants and corporate functions to help assure the quality and regulatory compliance of Zep products, supporting the business in the investigation and resolution of non-conformance. This role is also responsible for the strategic development of the programs, processes, and capabilities to meet future needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee quality management processes to ensure products meet specifications for quality, functionality, compliance, regulatory standards, and reliability before delivery.
  • Establish and maintain a robust quality management system in alignment with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS 9000, FDA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Define and communicate quality standards and parameters to the QA team, product development team, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Train and lead quality personnel in inspection practices and documentation.
  • Conduct root cause and corrective action analyses for recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and organizational policies and guidelines.
  • Work closely with and influence cross-functional teams to optimize processes and resolve quality issues.
  • Establish departmental objectives and key performance indicators to measure success in quality, security, and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant quality records as required by FDA regulations.
  • Oversight of quality assurance activities, including validation, qualification, and quality control processes.
  • Prepare for and manage FDA and ISO audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field like engineering, business, or manufacturing management. A combination of education and experience may be viewed as equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on quality assurance.
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Five years of industrial quality experience.
  • Working knowledge of ISO, AS 9000, and FDA regulations.
  • Experience conducting internal/external audits in compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge and application of quality analysis, inspection, corrective action planning, internal monitoring to detect and correct non-conforming information, materials or processes using modern quality problem-solving tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop talent in quality assurance and compliance operations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant quality management software.
  • Relevant certifications preferred: ASQ, CQM, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
