POSITION: Horticulture Groundskeeper: North Metro Campus

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Part-time position- up to 29 hours per week – based on semester system. This is an open-ended announcement. Each semester applications will be reviewed. Responsibilities are centered on assisting the horticulture department in maintaining grounds and ID gardens.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Associate Dean of Public & Professional Services

JOB OBJECTIVES: Part-time position based on semester system. Responsibilities are centered on assisting the horticulture department in maintaining grounds and ID gardens.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain outdoor lab space, grounds and ID garden

2. Other duties assigned by faculty.

CRITICAL SKILL/EXPERTISE:

· Knowledge and expertise in commercial lawn and landscape equipment operation and routine maintenance

· Ability to safely operate construction equipment in lab setting

· Critical thinking skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience in groundskeeping

· Knowledge, work experience, and demonstration of the following areas of study

o Commercial Lawn and Landscape Equipment

o Equipment Maintenance and Repair

o Application of Pest Control Products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Diploma or AAS degree in Horticulture or Landscaping

· Georgia Pesticide Applicators Licenses

· Irrigation

· Pest Identification

· Woody & Herbaceous Plant ID

SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary–$20.00 per hour. There are no State Benefits.
