About the Role:
The translator will be responsible for supporting basic translation of Korean and English languages for all team members on the floor. This includes employees who are assigned to the project from parent companies, Hyundai Motor and SK on as "Expatiates" and their third-party vendors' employees as well.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Korean commonly spoken.
- Proven experience in interpretation or translation, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of assembly processes, technical terminology, and workplace safety standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple communication tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in interpretation or translation from a recognized professional body.
- Experience working in manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software or communication tools.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to support diverse teams.
- Computer skills including Microsoft office apps.
Responsibilities:
- Translates spoken and/or written materials from one language to another.
- Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
- Record and/or transcribes minutes of meetings, hearings, dictation, dialogue, etc., and produce document in draft or final format.
- Review and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Enter data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data.
- Translate written instructions, safety guidelines, and technical documents accurately and promptly.
- Facilitate communication during training sessions, meetings, and safety briefings to ensure all employees understand critical information.
- Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to clarify technical terms and procedures.
- Assist in resolving language barriers that may impact workflow, safety compliance, and team collaboration.
Additional information:
- This position requires the physical ability to stand on-site for minimum 8 hours and up to 12 hours daily.
- Interpreter must provide courteous and professional support to internal employees requesting interpretation or translation services, demonstrating a strong customer service mindset.
- Must be willing to travel.
