POSITION TITLE: Diagnostician (.50) for the 2026-2027 School Year
LOCATION: Central Office
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Serve as a contact for coordinating developmental evaluations in children ages 3 to 5
• Document Pre-K referral concerns, help schedule evaluations, sends referral packet to parents, and invite evaluation team members
• Function as a part of the developmental evaluation team when conducting developmental evaluations
• Assist the developmental evaluation team by conducting at least one formal measure of developmental skills (adaptive behavior, cognition, communication, motor development, and emotional development) such as the BDI-2
• Score the assessment(s) and send results to school psychologist and speech-language pathologist for review
• Enter developmental evaluation data into student information system(s)
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student information
• Conduct observations and assessments relevant to the design of positive interventions and supports for students
• Administer achievement tests for initial and reevaluation referrals (K-12) as requested by the Office of Psychological Services
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and Board policy, and develop procedures to meet changes in standards and requirements
• Work collaboratively with other assessment personnel, such as speech/language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and school psychologists, counselors, and social workers to determine eligibility for special education services
• Facilitate initial exceptional education meetings for students transition from Babies Can’t Wait (BCW)
• Assist with the monitoring of assessment materials’ inventory and notifies Lead School Psychologist/PreK Lead Teacher id additional inventory is needed
• Follows federal and state laws as well as Bartow County Board of Education policies
• Maintains prompt and regular attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING: Must hold a valid Georgia teaching certificate.
SKILLS: Ability and knowledge to effectively lead the special education program at the school level. Must be familiar with special education laws and policies. Training in special needs of disabled population, including first aid and controlling aggressive behavior. Physical demands – must be able to stand and walk a minimum of six hours; lift, carry and pull up to 150 pounds.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working in a special education program required.
